ISO Certification

What is ISO Certification?

ISO certification refers to the certification of a management system based on a single ISO standard (e.g., ISO 9001) or multiple standards together (e.g., ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, etc.). The International Organization for Standardization (ISO) has developed numerous standards, such as ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, ISO 22000, ISO 27001, and ISO 13485, which organizations adopt for implementation and certification. These standards, created by technical committees within ISO, align with the World Trade Organization’s (WTO) principles outlined in the Technical Barriers to Trade (TBT).

Each ISO standard serves a distinct purpose, tailored to help organizations improve specific aspects of their operations. The requirements outlined in these management system standards are designed to be generic, meaning they can be implemented by organizations of any size or industry, regardless of their activities. Below are the objectives of some key ISO standards:

ISO 9001:2015 – Quality Management System (QMS)

ISO 9001:2015 focuses on improving an organization’s overall performance by enhancing its ability to consistently provide products and services that meet customer expectations as well as applicable statutory and regulatory requirements. The standard also aims to increase customer satisfaction through effective process management and continual improvement.

ISO 14001:2015 – Environmental Management System (EMS)

The goal of ISO 14001:2015 is to provide organizations with a framework for environmental protection and improving their environmental performance. By adopting this standard, companies can better manage their compliance with legal and regulatory requirements while striving for sustainable operations.

ISO 45001:2018 – Occupational Health and Safety Management System (OHSMS)

ISO 45001:2018 provides a framework for managing workplace health and safety risks. Organizations that adopt this standard are better equipped to manage occupational health and safety risks, improving overall employee well-being.

These standards help organizations maintain compliance, boost performance, and improve overall operational efficiency across different areas of business management.
